Going High Tech: Entertaining

Going High Tech: Entertaining

I grew up watching the Jetsons cartoons and loved the futuristic goodies Jane and George used in their daily routine. I would have never guessed that such high tech applications would be available for me in the 21st century.

Going high tech can be as simple as using a remote to control your lights or installing a security system to monitor both burglary and fire. It can also be as technologically advanced as having voice activating applications for appliances and entry systems. I am going to write a series of blogs on all kinds of new and fun High Tech things that can make your life fun and just a little bit easier.

Home theatres and media rooms are at the top of the list of must haves these days for home use and entertaining. HD flat screen televisions are being mounted on the wall to give the homeowner an in-house theatre feel. High Definition televisions are the rage and ultra 4K HD TV’s are here with images around 4,000 pixels wide. Before long, the walk in theatre will not have the quality that a home TV has. Theses 4K HD tech TV’s start at $7000 and go up to 10k or more. I have to say, for that price, it better make my popcorn too. You can check some of the Samsung 4K’s at this site: http://www.samsung.com/us/video/4k-suhd-tv.

Now you can’t have an amazing TV visual experience and not have the audio to match. Audio is equally important. Some homeowners have a room just for viewing movies and they program it with sound systems mounted on the walls with surround sound components. A home theatre system can run from $150 to $5000 depending on how elaborate and electronic you want to go. After check out several sites, the Onkyo 7.1 Channel Home Theater Speaker System has the highest ratings and will cost you around $400.

Outdoor Fun

It is summer time and everyone loves to be outdoors but I can imagine this would even be fun in the winter bundled up outside with some hot coco on a beautiful night. I really want one of these, Open Air Cinema System’s. These outdoor inflatable TV screens bring the movies to your home, school or event. You can get one as small as 9 ft. or as big as 40 ft. The systems start out around $2900. http://openaircinema.us/

We can’t forget to Entertain the Kids

Virtual Reality at Home...older children can get the Mattel View Master Virtual Reality Starter Pack. This is so not like the one I had in the 70’s where my finger pushed a button to move the round disk in a circle so I could see a small photo through the lens. This View Master is a 3D virtual reality view master that has an adapter for Smartphones. It surrounds your child with stunning 360 degreee environments that makes them feel like they are there. How cool is that? At $29.99 I think I want one. I found this video with a young man explaining the experience. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uROT8OEcadU

Don't forget your toddlers! To entertain the younger child and if you want your young child to learn to code Fisher Price: Think & Learn has a new toy called Code –a-Pillar for just $50.
