Tips for Holiday Shopping

It is that time of year again when you have a list and you check it twice to make sure you buy everyone the perfect gift. It can be time consuming and break your budget if you are not careful. So I have compiled a few tips for your Holiday Shopping that may make your shopping easier and you save money.

Make a List

You need to make a list of everyone that you need to buy for and put them in order of importance and beside their name, how much you plan to spend on their present. Put your entire budget number at the top of the page, add up all the costs for each person's present to make sure you have enough in your budget.

Be Creative

You don't have to spend a lot on a person to make a present special. Think about their hobbies, what they collect, do you have an awesome photo of them with you they would love? If you buy from the heart or create something special, the pocketbook doesn't get hit as hard.

Buy Online

If you want to save time, google what you want to buy and see if it is online. If so, you can sometimes get it cheaper, free shipping and no tax and it comes right to your door. Be sure the delivery date is before the date you need the present.

Present Games

If you have lots of family and friends, play the dirty Santa game or draw names. This is fun, everyone gets a present and no one has to buy too many gifts. Dirty Santa is always fun. Here is a link to share how to play: Dirty Santa Game

Now that this year is almost gone, be sure and set up a Christmas Savings Account at your local credit union or bank. If you know what your budget is this year, you can figure out how much to put away each pay period to have enough for next year.
